Aachen Drone Development initiative
ABOUT US
ADDI is a student initiative of RWTH Aachen. Our aim is to build and optimise unmanned and (partially) autonomous air vehicles like par example multi-copters, planes and airships. The main focus of the association is the participation at international competitions and the actualisation of independent research projects. Discover
Every project starts with an idea. A consideration about how a problem can be solved or a task at a competition can be accomplished. No matter whether it is a general concept, a special procedure or a concrete solution of a problem; this idea is the beginning of a project. At ADDI, teambuilding is just as important as developing a deep understanding of the task at hand.
Develop
Before one of our prototypes lifts off, we need to get the development and construction locked down. Here it is important to deal with the many new problems, develop practical solutions for them and afterwards make those turn into reality. Theoretical knowledge is just as important as a bit of manual dexterity.
Fly
The flight of finished prototype comes at the end of every project. At this point it shows whether the requirements have been met and whether the right approach has been chosen. Now the task is to win the competition or fulfil the mission. The experience of a successful project motivates you to take part again next year, or to look for new goals.

We are a young interdisciplinary team with experience in the field of drone and robot development. Thanks to our academic background and international competitive experience, we work purposefully and efficiently. As our team consists of computer scientists, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers, we can offer fully integrated solutions in the field of hardware and software.
Urban Ray
Making goods accessible at any time and for everyone
We utilise the flexibility and speed of drones and combine them with automated landing and storage stations on the ground. This allows us to create customised delivery networks for the cities of the future.
As a young and dedicated team, we strive to optimise the delivery infrastructure through air-enabled transport. Our first milestone is the innovation of medical logistics, which will eventually expand to spare parts and everyday delivery services. With our academic background and a well-positioned team in various fields of expertise, we are laying the foundation for this exciting innovation.

We are a member of TechAachen. What is TechAachen?
We are around 400 students from RWTH Aachen University and Aachen University of Applied Sciences who take part in competitions alongside their studies, realise ideas and are committed to sustainability and social issues. We currently consist of nine associations, each with different goals and projects. In our umbrella organisation “TechAachen e.V.”, we pool our strengths, share our knowledge and connect our networks.
